Nourish a Neighbor at Summer Shack Cambridge: Food is Love in Action

At Summer Shack Cambridge, we believe Food is Love—and that love belongs to the whole neighborhood. This season, we’re continuing to support “Nourish a Neighbor,” a community effort supporting the Cambridge Community Center Food Pantry. Since 2017, we've supported this great cause. When you dine with us, you can add a donation right to your check—$1, $3, $5, or any custom amount—and, if you’d like, bring a non-perishable item to drop in our collection box. Together, we’ll help put good food on local tables while you enjoy the freshest New England seafood in a setting where every day feels like summer .

How Your Table Donation Works

It’s simple to contribute while you celebrate with us:

  • When your bill arrives, choose to add $1, $3, $5, or enter a custom donation amount.
  • All guest donations will be collected and combined with contributions from Summer Shack and our community partners for the Cambridge Community Center Food Pantry.
  • Prefer to give online? You can learn more and donate directly any time: Nourish a Neighbor on Givebutter.

Every dollar makes a difference—and every visit helps us amplify support for our neighbors in Cambridge.

Bring a Non‑Perishable to the Shack

You’ll find our collection box at Summer Shack Cambridge. Drop off non-perishable pantry staples during your visit; we’ll donate all items to the Cambridge Community Center Food Pantry along with funds raised. If you’re unsure what to bring, our team can help point you toward pantry-appropriate items or you can check guidance on the donation page above.

Why This Matters—And Why It’s Us

For more than two decades, Summer Shack has welcomed families, friends, and seafood lovers to gather and celebrate New England tradition with fresh daily catches, shucked-to-order oysters, and live Maine lobsters. “Food is Love” isn’t just a saying for us—it’s our philosophy. Partnering with a neighborhood pantry lets that love ripple outward, creating a shared celebration that starts at your table and reaches a neighbor’s kitchen .

Make It a Cambridge Celebration

We’re proud to call the Alewife area home—just a shell’s throw from Fresh Pond—and to be part of the Greater Boston community that shows up for one another. Whether you’re here for the raw bar, the 1,500-gallon live lobster tank, or the game on at our 65-seat bar, “Nourish a Neighbor” makes every visit a chance to do good while you dine .
